This course is designed to improve psychology graduate students’ English writing skills for academic papers.

Outline

Each student will present her/his research in an academic paper. The instructors, teaching assistants and other classmates will discuss the quality of writing and provide each student with constructive suggestions. At the end of the course, students will receive a written summary of tips to improve his/her English writing skills. Based on the information, they will be required to submit a revised paper, the quality of which will be a major factor in their grade.

  • to improve logical thinking.
  • to learn efficient and effective communication skills in order to convey personal ideas.
  • to be exposed to useful vocabulary, sentence structure, and idioms for English academic writing.
  • to get used to explaining their research ideas in English.
  • to resubmit an academic writing after revision
