I have been researching the transnational history between the Russian Empire / the Soviet Union and Iran from the 19th to the 20th century. Recently, I have been comparing Soviet-Middle East relations with Soviet-Far East relations, and studying Soviet maritime policy from the perspective of international law, drawing on case studies of the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Japan.
